Cactus TurboNet Newsletter #7

Blowing our Own Horn

A couple came in on Thursday and wanted to advertise their home on our Classified Ads page.  We showed them how to place the ad on-line, and then got to talking.  The lady said her neighbor had advertised their home there, and it sold in two days.  I doubt very much that this is a typical response, but it sure made my day!   Go to http://www.TurboNet.com and click Classified Ads.  They’re free for local people.

Note to ADSL users:

If you change your ADSL line speed with Verizon (call 877-483-4375 to do this) be sure to let us know.  We must also change the flow rate to you in our router.

Virus news:

Even though our mail server scans emails and eliminates viruses, it’s a good idea for your computer to run a virus checker.  Not all viruses come through email!  If you don’t have one, or if yours is out of date, check out http://www.GRIsoft.com.  We use their AVG on our computers.

Tips and Tricks

If your email program tries to download your mail and gets stuck partway through, there’s usually a simple fix.  Go to http://www.TurboNet.com and click the link on the left to Web Email.  Enter your username and password.

The program will show you any email that is waiting to be downloaded to your computer.  The oldest messages are on the bottom.  It will allow you to view, reply to, and/or delete the message that’s clogging your regular email program, so it can get the rest of your email.

Another tip:  If you’d like us to host your commercial web site, it will save you time, steps and probably money if we also do your domain registration.  $19.95 for one year or $35 for two.
