Changing your dial-up phone number

Windows 2000

If you have a dialup icon on your desktop, it's really easy to change your dial-up number.  The next time you double-click on the icon, before you hit the Dial button (see picture at right), just change the number.  If your old number was 216-1000, change it to 882-8768.

If you don't have a dial-up icon on the desktop, go to the Start button and click on Settings, then Control Panel.

Double-click on the Network and Dialup icon.

Double-click on The Cactus TurboNet icon.  (Some people called this icon something else, such as "My Connection,  "Connection to 216-1000" or just "TurboNet".)  Change the phone number in the Phone number box, leaving the area code box blank, then click the OK button.

882-8768 is a local call from Albion, Bovill, Deary, Elk River, Genesee, Harvard, Moscow, Potlatch, Pullman and Princeton.

If calling Moscow or Pullman is not a local call for you, continue to use the existing phone number in your dial-up connection.  Only the Moscow/Pullman local calling dial-up number has changed!
