Setting up the Ruckus MF2501US

  1. Configure your computer's Local Area Connection to 192.168.0.10 so the Ruckus will talk to your computer.
    1. In Windows XP, Start, Control Panel (or maybe Start, Settings, Control Panel)
    2. If there are fewer than about 12 icons, click on "Switch to Classic View" in the upper left.
    3. Double-click the Network Connections icon.
    4. Click Properties.
    5. Double-click on Internet Protocol/TCP/IP in the middle box.  You may have to scroll down.
    6. Enter 192.168.0.10 for the IP address, 255.255.252.0 for the subnet mask.  The other numbers are not necessary to configure the Ruckus.
    7. OK, OK.
  2. Plug the Ruckus radio into your ethernet port.
  3. Open a browser window, and enter 192.168.0.254 in the address or location line.
  4. Username:  admin.  Leave the password blank.
  5. Configure the Ruckus
    1. Click Configuration on the left panel, then Wireless.
    2. Click the Survey button to find available wireless networks.  Choose the one you want.
    3. at Security, click on WEP and click Enter Security Settings.  Note:  it's not a Pass Phrase, but a Key.
    4. The entry key method is ASCII text, the key length is 128-bit.  Click the Update button.
    5. Click Next, Next, then the reboot button (not reboot to factory settings).
    6. Your Ruckus will reboot.  Be patient.
  6. Re-configure your computer's Local Area Connection to obtain an IP address automatically (see step 1 for procedure).
  7. Check to make sure you're on the Internet.  It can take about 60 seconds for your computer to obtain an IP address.
