Using your FrontPage^® Web Account

[Note: Depending on your account type, you may or may not have all the services listed below.]

Publishing your FrontPage Web

First, develop your web site on your own computer using Microsoft's Personal Web Server.   We cannot over stress the importance of this and we recommend it for two reasons: (1) safety - you will have a backup copy of your web site on your own computer and (2) appearance - it looks bad to people visiting your site to see work under construction.

Note:  if you have registered your own domain with DNS numbers other than (NS1.TURBONET.COM = 207.13.199.1 and NS2.TURBONET.COM = 207.13.199.3) you will need to tell your domain registrar (Verisign, Registrar.com, etc.) to change to the above.  Until that is done, you won't be able to publish your web to our servers (it will go to the old servers) unless your computer uses the above numbers for its DNS.  If you dial in to TurboNet, or otherwise get your Internet access through us, that is taken care of automatically.  If you connect somewhere else, you'll need to at least temporarily change your computer's DNS to use the above numbers.  Here is how.

Second, publish your web to our server.  To do this

1. Dial into Cactus.
2. Start FrontPage Explorer and open your web on your computer.
3. Choose Publish FrontPage Web from the File menu.
4. Click on the More Webs button if this is the first time you are publishing your web and type in the web address of your web site at Cactus (usually, http://www.yourdomain.com).  Otherwise, pick your existing web from the list.
5. Click the OK button to transfer your web pages to your web site at Cactus.

In step 4 above, you will use www.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.palouse.net depending on whether you have a second or third level domain.  For example, if your domain name is flowers.com, then type in http://www.flowers.com.  If it is flowers.palouse.net, then type in http://flowers.palouse.net.

FrontPage with FTP

If you are using FrontPage to develop your web site, but are publishing to our servers via FTP (not a FrontPage site), we also have instructions.

Shopping Basket

Cactus provides a basic shopping basket that requires a minimum of HTML coding on your web pages and that operates through a secure server.  Details on using the shopping basket can be fount at http://www.TurboNet.com/ShoppingBasket.asp.   We must set up a database with information specific to your needs in order to give you access to the shopping basket.  If this is a feature you want to use, please call us at 208-883-5500.

Statistics Server

Our statistics server can provide you with over 20 customizable reports on your web site activity.  To access the server go to http://livestats.turbonet.com, type in your ServerID (normally it is the same as the main part of your domain name).  Normally, you'll leave the username and password blank.
